San Pedro 1st Thursday Art Walk - September 1st 6 - 9pm

huZ Galleries is proud to present “Musicians” -   photography by Peter Figen and featuring two never before seen photographs of Elvis Presley taken by Anthony Bernard.
Peter got his start in the late 1970’s photographing a Hot Rize concert in Santa Cruz, CA.  FRETS magazine saw his work and that was the beginning of his commercial career.
Since then Peter has used his skill as a photographer and printer to immortalize the likes of Doc Watson, Willie Dixon, George Harrison, Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett, Scott Weiland and countless others.
Peter’s passion for the music, the performance and the artist is reflected in his imagery.
Recently huZ Galleries was approached by Tony Bernard, whose father Anthony had taken a few images of a young Elvis Presley, backed up by Scotty Moore, performing in Lubbock, Texas in 1955.  These images
have never before been printed, published or seen by anyone apart from the photographer and his sister Crystal Bernard.  Anthony - a photographer for the Air Force - had taken these shots just
before Elvis became a house hold name.  He showed them to Crystal who didn’t know who Elvis was and so threw them away!  Thankfully the negatives were saved, and made their way to Anthony’s son
Tony.  Tony approached huZ Galleries with the negatives, and we knew just the person who could do them justice.  Peter Figen.  Peter restored the negatives and printed them in all their glory with a stunning depth
and tonal range.
This has been a bitter sweet story, as Scotty passed on June 28, 2016.  But thanks to Peter Figen and Tony Bernard we can celebrate the lives of Elvis, Scotty, Doc, Willie and all the other featured musicians.
Come join us on Thursday September 1st.
